Tony G who died in 2008, originally grew up at the mouth of the hollow, born to Polish parents who had a total of 22 children, some who died very young. He purchased this property in the 60’s and lived in a small single story wooden frame house across from the spring until it burnt down just before he died. Without him there would be no roadside spring. Those who knew him called him Czekaj, a nickname he created for himself from the Polish word meaning patience. When people asked him what Czekaj, pronounced “checkeye” meant, he always replied, polish eye doctor.
